Ministers Éamon Ó Cuiv T.D. and Noel Ahern T.D., today announced a further round of funding under the RAPID Local Authority Housing Estate Enhancement Scheme 2007/2008. Today's announcement brings the amount allocated under this scheme since its introduction in 2004 to €11 million.

A total of €4.5 million is being made available under the scheme, which will run over 2 years - 2007 and 2008. The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs will provide funding of €2.025 million, with a further €2.025 million from local authorities through the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government. Local Authorities will also contribute a further 10% of the project cost from own revenue resources.

Total funding of €100,000 is being provided to each RAPID area. Works such as landscaping, improvement of open spaces, seating areas, lighting, boundary walls and works to make open spaces in flat complexes amenable to recreational use will be undertaken under this scheme. Local authorities will consult with RAPID Area Implementation Teams to agree details of the projects to be supported.

The RAPID (Revitalising Areas by Planning, Investment and Development) Programme is a focussed Government initiative to target the 45 most disadvantaged areas in the country. The Programme aims to ensure that priority attention is given to tackling the spatial concentration of poverty and social exclusion within the 45 designated areas through targeting state resources, available under the National Development Plan. The Programme also calls on Government Departments and State Agencies to bring about better co-ordination and closer integration in the delivery of services. There are two Strands of the Programme - Strand I targets 25 urban areas, while Strand II targets 20 provincial towns around the country.

Scéim um Fheabhsú Eastát Tithíochta Údarás Áitiúil 2007/2008

Inniú, d'fhógair na hAirí Éamon Ó Cuív T.D. agus Noel Ahern T.D. babhta eile de mhaoiniú faoin Scéim RAPID um Fheabhsú Eastát Údarás Áitiúil 2007/2008. Mar sin, is €11m atá leithdháilte san iomlán faoin Scéim seo óna bhunaíodh i 2004 é.

Ar an iomlán, tá €4.5 mhilliún á chur ar fáil faoin Scéim, á reachtáil ar feadh dhá bhliain - 2007 agus 2008. Sholáthraí an Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta maoiniú de €2.025 milliún, le €2.025 milliún eile ó na hÚdaráis Áitiúla tríd an Roinn Comhshaoil, Oidhreachta agus Rialtas Áitiúil. Tabharfaidh na hÚdaráis Áitiúla 10% sa bhreis de chostas an tionscadail a íoc as a n-acmhainní ioncaim féin.

Tá maoiniú iomlán de €100,000 á thabhairt do gach limistéar RAPID.
Díríonn an Scéim seo ar oibreacha cosúil le tírdhreachtú, feabhas ar limistéir neamhfhálaithe, áiteanna suí, soilsiú, ballaí teorainne agus ar oibreacha chun limistéir neamhfhálaithe i gcomhréidh coimpléasc a dhéanamh óiriúnach d'úsáid siamsúil.
Rachaidh na hÚdaráis Áitiúla i gcomhairle le Foireann Forfheidhmithe Limistéir RAPID chun sonraí a aontú maidir le na tionscadail a dtabharfar tacaíocht dóibh.
