Over €900,000 of projects approved


Since the first AIT meeting in October 2002 over €900,000 of stamped projects have been approved by relevant Departments and agencies. The successful projects are related to Childcare, Education, and some Capital grants.

Kilkenny Strategic Planner Completion.

The Kilkenny Strategic plan is near completion. The Plan will be forwarded to ADM prior to the 11 th of July, the plan following extensive consultation with Community reps, incorporates a community and agency participation strategy, existing projects and projects for development. The Strategic plan will be a flexible one allowing new projects to be developed during it's lifetime. The Plan will be posted on the Kilkenny County Website. Www.kilkennycoco.ie

DR. Maureen Gaffney and RAPID National co-ordinator visit Kilkenny AIT

On Thursday the 8th of May Dr. Mauren Gaffney and Gerry Murphy ( National Co-ordinator ) visited the Kilkenny AIT in the Fr. McGrath Center. An informal meeting was held with AIT and community reps with reference to the programme.



RAPID South Eastern Forum Up and Running

In June 2003 the RAPID South Eastern forum met for the first time in Waterford The idea for the setting up of a South Eastern Community forum evolved from the First South Eastern RAPID Conference held in Kilkenny in Feb 2003. The forum will play a key role in cementing community links in existing RAPID urban areas through the sharing of experiences , idea generation, and the encouragement of best practice. The forum and community participants will be supported by each RAPID co-ordinator. Representatives from Kilkenny included Sandra Hoban, Mags Leaghy ( representing Norah Webster and Ray Scanlon )

In Brief

As part of DR. Maureen Gaffney's visit and Gerry Murphy's visit to Kilkenny, visits were made to the Newpark Close Family Resource center where a meeting was held with representatives from the center and the Fr. McGrath center in the Butts



Kilkenny Area Implementation Team's Community reps, Ray Scanlon, Sandra Hoban and Nora Webster all of whom have Played a key role in the compilation of the Kilkenny RAPID Strategic plan, the plan will be posted on the Kilkenny County Council website, www.kilkennycoco.ie

Running Effective meetings

Community representatives have just completed a four session community training programme. Excellent feedback was received from participants and a special thanks to Deidre Hennessy, Course tutor.
